Brief Answer:
Systemic sclerosis and dryness of mouth
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Acetylcysteine decreases thickness of mucous secretions in lung.
None of the other drugs taken by your mother cause undue dryness of mouth and inside.
However systemic sclerosis itself can cause dry mouth due to lymphocytic infiltration of minor salivary glands .
Hypothyroidism also occurs in a significant number of patients of systemic sclerosis and can contribute to some extent to diminution of overall mucosal secretions.
Your mother can omit acetylcysteine and see if there is regression of dryness of mouth.
