What Causes Dryness In Throat, High Blood Pressure, Dizziness And Ear Pain?

Since last several years, I am having a peculiar problem, I am an XXXXXXX male 44.
Whenever, gas forms in my stomach (it happens quite frequently), following things happen:
1. My throat feels dry
2. My hearbeat goes up and so does my BP
3. I start filling dizzy, I feel pain in my ears
But as soon as the gas has passed out of the system, everything becomes normal, my BP is always normal throughout the day. I have done all the following tests without any proper diagnosis
1. Endoscopy - normal
2. Ultrasound - normal
3. ECG, echocardiogram, 24 hrs Holter monitorin - normal
4. stress echo test - normal
5. Tilt table test - normal
6. Numerous blood tests : Lipids, LFT etc - normal
Since, my BP goes up during gas, my doctor has prescribed Concor 2.5, once daily, but I wanted to know:
1. Does gas in stomach leads to a sudden increase in BP
2. What other tests I should do
Yes it can. Consult specialist to combat the cause.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for the query.I understand your concern.
* Yes gas can cause transient increase in blood pressure, I feel your symptoms of high blood pressure with palpitation & dizziness is due to irritation of diaphragm following gas collected in stomach. This causes irritation of diaphragmatic nerves followed by your symptoms. Anxiety/ psychological tension following the gastric pressure adds to the symptoms.
*Tests you should undergo--
You have already undergone various tests to exclude heart involvement & they are normal.
I would advise for -
A) - To exclude any family history of blood pressure,
- Urine tests to exclude kidney infection.. which can lead to high blood pressure,
- Thyroid function test to exclude hyperthyroidism,
B) group of tests to find basic cause of gastric disturbance- they would include tests for bowel infections/ food intolerance/ serrological tests .. as per need . You have to consult a gastroenterologist for detailed physical examination & pathological tests to find exact cause followed by specific treatment.
C) personal care- few life style changes do help in managing the problem. They include-
- To follow dietary instructions by the doctor ( as per the causative factor )/ drink plenty of water
- Routine exercises( yoga/ walking )
- Maintain appropriate weight.
- avoid sleeping immediately after eating
- Mind concentration exercises/ meditation can help the psychological stress, fear
Thus with excluding possible cause for high pressure/ finding cause of the excess gas formation & it's management with expert advise & self care would help you combat your problem.
I hope the answer was both informative & helpful to you. Any follow up query is welcome.

Thanks.
