What Causes Dull Pain At The Same Area Of Osteochondritis Descanse Surgery On Right Knee?

default
Posted on Mon, 13 Apr 2015
Question: I had Osteochondritis Descanse surgery on my right knee when I was 18. The surgery was successful; however, I'm now 43, and I have swelling and and constant dull pain in that same area of the same knee, which feel much like the OCD symptoms did. Is a relapse of OCD common, or probable, so long after my knee was repaired?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Relapse of disease is unlikely to occur .

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. Relapse of disease is unlikely to occur after so many years. But as it is a form of avascular necrosis so it can lead to early osteoarthritic changes in affected areas of joint. You can confirm it by x ray and MRI of the joint. Glucosamine is helpful. Quadriceps excercises are of help. Hot fomentation is helpful. Analgesic such as ibuprofen are useful for pain relief. You can get your vitamin D level. if found low its Suppliments can be taken.

You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
