What Causes Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding?
Question: I am 59 yrs. old....started very light spotting this a.m. I'm pretty scared. Should I be seen right away or monitor the bleeding?

At 59, if you are post menopausal , then any bleeding per vaginum should be investigated. You should get the following done:-
1. PAP smear for ruling out ant cervical cancer/growth.
2. per speculum examination- to check for any vaginal growth / cancer.
3.Ultrasound pelvis to look thickened endometrial thickness more than 3mm, which shall warrant an endometrial biopsy to rule out endometrial carcinoma.
So you should seek an appointment with your gynaecologist soon and get investigated.
