Brief Answer:
There is no proven reason!

Detailed Answer:
Hello

There is no proven reason for keratosis of the ear. Although many theories have been postulated including an autoimmune dysfunction to local infection with viruses. None of these have however been proven.

I would like to know your complaints and what treatment has been done so far?

Please get back to me with the answers.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
please meet your doctor regulary!!

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Although rare but yes keratosis can recur and i would like you to meet your doctor every 4-5 months for a check up and early detection of the problem.

Normally i prescribe an antibiotic plus steroid ointment , to be applied in the ear for 2-3 weeks after removal , this helps in healing and decreases the recurrence , i would like you to meet your doctor for the prescription.

I am afraid that besides a regular follow up, there is nothing else you can do to prevent a recurrence. please dont be disheartened as generally the recurrence is low.

Take care
