What Causes Electric Shock Sensations In Knee Post Pacemaker Installation?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Nov 2014
Question: I had a pacemaker installed (left side) two weeks ago with no pain, problems, complications, etc at the Mayo CLinic. Periodically I have begun in the last three days to experience XXXXXXX electrical shocks in my right knee and I am beginning to think in my right arm. Can this be related to the pacemaker? THey are more annoying than anything else but if they could be related to the pacemaker I would contact my personal doctor to see what I should do. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
No it is not related to pacemaker

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and I do not think that pacemaker has anything to do with your knee or shoulder sensation. I think it can be a type of neuropathy. Most common cause of such symptoms is low vitamin B 12.
Still I would recommend you to not to take any risk and contact your doctor as soon as possible. If every thing is ok with pacemaker then you can start taking Pregaballin and Methulcobal for these symptoms.
These medications should be taken after consulting with your doctor. They are good for such electric like sensations.
I hope this answer will be helpful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
Thanks.
