What Causes Elevated BP Levels And Heart Rate Post Recovery From Bronchitis?
different possible causes
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
An increase in heart rate with an infection can occur due to different causes such as :(a) if there is any accompanying fever
(b)due to increase metabolic rate of the body during any infection causing the heart to function at a higher rate
(c)side effect of a medication used
(d)in very severe infections can indicate heart/lung distress
The increased blood pressure may also be due to increased metabolism as the body responds to the infection or/and a side effect of medication.
If there is a fever, the use of paracetamol every 4 to 6 hours, tepid bath , cool liquids would help.
If the cough is wet, then the use of a mucolytic to break up the mucus would also be helpful.
You may need to be reviewed by your doctor if the increase in pulse/bp continues to see if you need prescribed medication
If severe antibiotics and , in some cases a short course of steroids, may be needed.
With appropriate treatment both the pulse and heart rate would improve
I hope this helps , feel free to ask any other questions
