What Causes Elevated C-reactive Protein Levels While Having Skin Infection?

Question: My sister is an active 59 year old..exercises at least 4 times a week..she had a cardiac crp test and her numbers were 4.9! At the time of the test she had two boils on her leg and two canker sores..can that affect her higher than normal crp levels..what does this high reading possibly mean..her hdl is 65 triglycerides 78 and ldl 145.. She had a EKG and her tracing was great! Help us know what to do thanks,!
Brief Answer:
YEs, the boils are responsible for this!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Boils cause increased CRP levels. This seems to be what your sister had. I will suggest that you simply monitor that value in future to make sure it is stable. Also, her lipid values are normal and am not worried about that.
I wish you well. Keep me posted about this.
