What Causes Elevated PSA Count After Prostatic Laser Operation?

Just to give a summery of my health as of this day 28th of XXXXXXX 2015.
I am still suffering from the prostatic lacer operation and for now the
PSA count is still climbing. I am sending you the last results of the
Pathology department, which you can see is, as I understood within
a change to come down with prostatic cancer. Although my GP says
that it is not cancer.
Friday I will undergo a bone test which will, as I understood tell if
I will come down with prostatic cancer. I am sending you the referral
for the test
I am also sending you a report of my GP about me and what is going
on mentally and physically.
I am 83 years old and although physically I seem to be fit, somewhere
I have enough of life and prefer to rest forever. I am feeling tired having
to go to the toilet more than usually. At the moment I am taking ditropan
before I go to bed, yet I still manage to get out three or four times at night.
My question to you, after you have read my personal health history, do
you suggest something different to stop the rising of the PSA blood count,
or perhaps a different medication to cure the frequent visit to the bathroom.
My GP thought that my prostates might have grown back again, can that happen?
If come down with prostatic cancer I do not want anything done anymore. My honest
question; how long would it last before I will leave my physical life and will
there be much suffering?
I would like to show your comments to my GP but if you I'd rather keep it to
myself, I will do so.
Much
Regard,
Based on bone scan, further opinion possible.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for replying.
The prostate to grow back to the size again to cause urinary symptoms, so soon is rare.
However, a bone scan will effectively demonstrate if any cancer is present or not. Guided biopsy of prostate would have been helpful, but as the GP is suspecting infection, it might take longer for him to advise it.
If it comes positive, options if not undergoing hormonal therapy, or excision as you have want, it is not advisable.
If prostate cancer comes positive, I would give a maximum of around of an year or two depending on metastasis (site, where it has moved too). It might cause some pain, so you will prescribed opioid analgesics. It will be less painful. Symptom management will be done. Depending on site of metastasis, further prognosis is possible.
For reducing PSA count, Other than cause, nothing else is possible. Prostate infection or cancer requires therapy. Both have not been confirmed, at present.
To avoid disturbance during night, take very minimal fluids after 4 pm. As much as necessary only. No other medications possible at this point.
Hope it helps.
