What Causes Elevated Blood Sugar With Foot And Leg Pain?

default
Posted on Sat, 7 Nov 2015
Question: My mother (67 Year's old) has crohn's disease & is diabetic. She just took her evening blood sugar & it was 330. She also is experiencing foot & leg pain. Her foot feels like it's "locked into place" & it's become painful for her to walk. On Thurs morning, she nearly passed while sitting on the toilet. What do you recommend....take her to hospita now or, wait till Monday when she can visit her GP (he is managing her diabetes).

Brief Answer:
Suggest hospitalization

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal.
I have read your message.
I would suggest testing her FBS again.
If that continues to be high I will suggest hospitalization in view of possible Diabetic Keto acidosis.
This is complication of diabetes.
I think about it in view of the episode of passing out.
I have tried to make it as simple as possible. I hope that the information contained in this message will be able to help you find the best solution for your problem. Best of luck. Dr Mittal.
