What Causes Elevated Heart Rate?
Question: My daughter is 5'1" 92 pounds and a track and cross country runner. About a month ago she started taking 30mg of vyvanse for her ADD. After one month bumped up to 40mg. Has worked wonders for her. Like a new kid loving life. Will it have an effect on her racing performance if her new resting heart rate is now in the 70's compared to high 40's low 50's prior to taking the medication? I've been told no since she is still within normal range. Seems like she would would hit her maximum heart rate too quickly. Also, can you tell me how soon after she takes her dose she can begin a running workout.
Brief Answer:
No worries. Upto 70 mg is safe
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. 30 mg is the starting dose and it can be increased slowly by 10 mg. Upto 70 mg can be taken but that is the ultimate dose and any thing more than 70 is bad.
Heart rate is fine. 40 or 50 was not fine as that was bradycardia. DOnt worry. Let her take the medication regularly and adopt all the friendly routines and habits to favour and help ADD.
Right now everything seems fine and should not be a concern.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
