What Causes Elevated Liver Enzymes Alt Level?

Question: I get a hepatic panel done with cholesterol check every 6months as I take lipitor and atorvastatin everyday my liver enzymes alt was 61 and ast was 63 they seem to be elevated for about a year
My doctor did an ultrasouond on my liver 6 months ago it was normal now she wants me to see a gastroenterologist what will he look for? I am nervous about this

Your liver enzymes are only slightly elevated. This is nothing serious for sure. Such liver enzymes can be present due to bad diet (fatty foods intake), alcohol intake, painkillers intake and some other medicines intake.
I do not think you need gastroenterologist visit. So there is no need to be nervous. I assume that your doctor wants to make sure he did not miss anything. Gastroenterologist may want to perform liver viral tests and repeat ultrasound.
