What Causes Elevated Liver Enzymes While On Acetaminophen?
Question: I had blood work done on a Saturday and it showed elevated liver enzymes. The preceding week I had what I thought was a terrible bout with the flu. I only took acetaminophen a couple of times for extreme pain in my lower back. I had a fever and the highest is got was 101.6 I also have hypercalcemia. Could I have had a kidney stone, and not the "flu"?
Brief Answer:
More likely to be viral infection
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
Kidney stones can be silent or can produce severe pain radiating from loin to groin. If you had this kind of pain, then it may be that you had a urinary stone. Kidney stone doesn't elevate liver enzyme. Viral infection and high dose of acetaminophen can.
