What Causes Elevated Liver Enzymes?

Question: Hello, I had lab work and an ultrasound done of the abdomen my ALT result was 70 and all other blood work normal, my ultrasound showed 2 gall bladder stones I have rt upper quadrant pain sharp and usually worse afer eating, I also have Lt upper quadrant discomfort and soreness, frequent heart burn, Could you tell me if the ALT is related to the gallbladder problems or more the liver

ALT or Alanine Transaminase is a Liver Enzyme . Elevation of this enzyme is seen in affection of Liver. Value of 70 is only marginal elevation. Presence of Gall bladder stone leads to inefficient bile secretion and mild elevation is noted.
Significant elevation is seen when there is blockage of common bile duct with stone.
