What Causes Empty Sella Turcica In A Hypertensive Person?

Question: If I have empty sella turcica as a result of IIH.. would that be primary or secondary? Having problems with my thyroid(multigoiter and low T3). Could am empty sella like this cause problem withthe pitutary gland?

I have noted your clinical details. Empty sella turcica is commonly associated with idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH). Empty sella can be associated with decreased production of hormones from pituitary. This can result in low T3. You should get the blood tests done for hormonal profile- prolactin, growth hormone, cortisol and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone).
