What Causes Excessive Belching And Waterbrash?
Question: Can water brash last for several weeks? I have had burping and water brash for several weeks and have an epper GI endoscomy in 10 days and hoping its just gerd.
Hello. Yes, GERD can last for several weeks when it isn't treated with medications like Nexium or Prilosec. You may also have an H pylori bacterial stomach infection so you should be screened for that. It's easily eradicated with antibiotics

Thanks... I have been taking nexium but ibstill have the watery mouth and buping without hearburn. I am able to eat normally but periodic bitter taste during the day. Just concerned bc nexium hasnt made me feel 100%. I used to get heartburn peiodically and take nexium or prilosec as needed. Then a few weeks ago, it seemed to get worse with these new symptoms. I had bloodwork done and all was normal except for slightly elevated alt lebel but reat of panel was normal. My wife is going through chemo for BC and this is when this began and i wonder if sress or anxiety might have brought this on as well or just a coincidence. I guess the endo will figure it out.
Brief Answer:
Hi. This isn't just from anxiety
Detailed Answer:
No, anxiety alone wouldn't account for this. But blood work alone wouldn't check for H pylori--you need a breath test or a stool culture to look for that

Gotcha... So its no unusual that the symptoma persits despite nexium? t
Brief Answer:
No, not if H pylori is involved
Detailed Answer:
Hi. H pylori takes a round of two different antibiotics PLUS a PPI like Nexium to treat so that's why I think the Nexium alone isn't doing the job for you
