What Causes Excessive Nocturnal Hyperhidrosis?

default
Posted on Thu, 19 Nov 2015
Question: I am a 34 year old male and have had night sweats for the past 10 nights. I have had all bloodwork taken and everything is normal. I had an abdominal ultrasound and it was normal. The night sweats happen usually within the first 3 hours of me falling asleep. My head, neck and chest get sweats. My primary care doctor said he never sees males get night sweats and had no answers for me. What could it be???

Not sure if this is related to another symptom, however, I also have anal leakage occur often. It does not get into my underpants but leaves a wet feeling in my anus. When I feel it, I go and wipe and there is liquid brown stool. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks!

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to HCM
I have gone through your query.
There are many causes for night sweats. The common are medications like antidepressants, Diabetic drugs, Hormone therapy & Hot atmosphere. Besides those disease such as infection, anxiety, bacterial infection, tuberculosis, increased thyroid levels also cause night sweats.
I would be happy if you could get few investigation done and revert back to me with the reports, then i would be able to guide you better Please do
1, Thyroid profile including T3 T4 TSH 2,
Complete blood count including ESR and peripheral smear
3. Chest xray
4. Sputum for culture and AFB staining to rule out tuberculosis.

Regarding the anal symptom, we have to rule out any parasitic infection, so get an routine stool examination done.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
