What Causes Excessive Phlegm In Throat Post Tracheotomy?

Question: I have a tracheotomy resulting from surgery and can breathe through that and mouth. I don't have trouble breathing. My concern is in order to get phlegm up, I can't by coughing, but only by clearing my throat. This concerns me shouldn't I be able to cough productively?
Brief Answer:
Pleghm through coughing
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
Phlegm is a secondary response to an active infection, unless you are having either an upper respiratory or a lower respiratory tract infection you will not be getting any phelgm. Please do not worry about it.
Secondly if you feel that there is phlegm but you are not able to expectorate it then I suggest you to use a cough expectorant like Syp Ambrolite S or N Acetylcysteine nebulisation. Even just saline nebulistion will help
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards
