What Causes Excessive Salivation And Tightness In Stomach?
Question: my sixteen year old son, twice, two days in a row, suddenly gets excessive salivation and a tightness in his stomach/chest but no vomiting. It isn't immediately after eating, isn't proceeded by coughing (although getting over a bad cold/cough), did not burp before but during the 'episode' finds relief. Has no taste either. I see that this is probably water brash... any suggestions for when to see a doctor?

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
The symptoms you described fit into water brash and Reflux esophagitis.
You can try sucralfate syrup. I usually prescribe around 15 ml thrice daily before meals.
Avoid spicy oily fried foods.
Vegetables and fruits can be taken liberally.
Ensure he drinks adequate water and liquids.
If still no improvement consult your doctor.
Wishing your son good health
