Hi, he was diagnosed over a year ago, alternating diarhea and constipation for over a year. He refuses to monitor blood sugar, refuses to get hernia fixed. Not sure annoy fever or infections. Sorry i don't have the answers to all your questions, it is why i contacted you.
Brief Answer:
Might not be related to Diabetes.
Detailed Answer:
Dear madam
Thank you for the information.
In my opinion this alternating constipation and diarrhoea might not be related to diabetes.
Usually this kind of complaints are seen in long standing diabetes with autonomic neuropathy.
In some individuals drug metformin can also cause the similar picture.
I suggest you to hold metformin and observe for 7 days whether the symptoms recovering or not.
since he is feeling very sleepy it might be due to uncontrolled diabetes also so I suggest you to check his Hba1c% along with fasting blood sugars.
In rare scenarios some intestinal related disease like irritable bowel syndrome can also give the similar picture of symptoms.
Honestly, I don't diagnose you with this condition; but it's definitely worth evaluation in these lines since there are many matching symptoms. Please discuss with your treating doctor.
