What Causes Excessive Sleeping While On Gabapentin And Benadryl?

Question: Hi. I am wondering how long proposal stays in the body? I had a colonoscopy and I still was sleepy the next day.
Brief Answer:
propofol?
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I suppose you meant propofol? Propofol's effects after such a short infusion are supposed to wear off in minutes. The patient should feel normal 1 hour after the infusion. Sleepiness the next day is not expected.
Prolonged infusion may cause accumulation of the drug in the fat tissue and according prolongation of its effects but the usual procedure for colonoscopy is a short infusion.
I hope it helps!
Kind Regards!

I do not understand why I am sleepy the next day? I am 5'7" and 120 lbs. I take gabapentin 200mg and benadryl 50mg at night for sleep. I had the colonoscopy at 2 pm. Why does they handout say you cannot drive?
Brief Answer:
perhaps the combination with benadryl...
Detailed Answer:
The drugs you've mentioned (gabapentin and benadryl) cause sleepiness. Using another "sleep" drug will potentiate their effects. Perhaps that's the cause. If you've had a glass of wine (or anything like that) too, then it could also make things worse.
Propofol on its own may only cause sleepiness during the procedure and up to few (maximum) hours after the test. Most patients are fully functional 1 hour or so after the infusion. You should not drive after the test because propofol may reduce your reaction time for a while. Watch it though because the drugs you're already using may do the same!
