What Causes Excessive Sweating And Increased Heart Rate At Night?
Question: I am a 68 year old female. Two nights this week I had drenching sweat while in bed. Increased heart rate in both episodes. Had to change my nightwear and air my bed out. I don't have high blood pressure or diabetes yet.
Menopause is long gone and this only happens at night when reclining.

Brief Answer:
I will like you to measure your blood pressure and report to me!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
There are a couple of things that could cause this. They include panic attacks, anxiety, hormonal fluctuations, phaeochromocytoma, etc. For sure, there is no immediate threat to life and we will need to take a moment and evaluate stepwise to identify the cause and manage accordingly.
To start off with, I will like to know the resting blood pressure and pulse rate. Then, if any attack occurs again, measure these values again and communicate to me. I will start from here and move on.
Hope I have answered your query.
