Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms could be related to different possible causes:

1- A chronic infection
2- Inflammation
3- a metabolic disorder.

In order to make a careful differential diagnosis between the above mentioned causes, I would recommend consulting with your doctor for a careful physical exam and some tests:

- a chest X ray study
- an abdominal ultrasound
- a complete blood count
- PCR and sedimentation rate for inflammation
- cortisol plasma levels
- blood electrolytes
- fasting glucose
- kidney and liver function tests

Further tests may be necessary if suspicions of a chronic infection are raised ( tests for brucelosis, lyme disease, Tuberculosis, etc.).

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
