Brief Answer:
Advice on obesity

Detailed Answer:
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. I understand your concern.

Your kid is definitely overweight. There could be two reasons for this.
1. Endogenous obesity - due to genetic and family predisposition.
2. Exogenous obesity - due to lack of exercise and over eating.

I have a few questions for you -
1. What is her height now?
2. What was her birth weight?
3. From when did she start gaining weight like this (form what age)?
4. How are her daily activities and exercising pattern?
5. Are there any complaints from school about her academic performance?
6. Is there any family history of obesity?
7. Can you get back to be me with a chart of whatever she eats from morning till going to bed - on any average day?
8. Does she eat a lot of snacks?
9. How many hours does she watch TV per day?

Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.

Brief Answer:
Suggestioins on obesity

Detailed Answer:
Hi...thanks for your trust in me.

Your daughter's BMI is 27 kg/m2....which is an indicator of obesity.
her height is in 50th-75th percentile which is perfect, but her weight is at 95th centile which is worrying.

I suggest the following for her betterment -

1. Get up at 5.30 and do some indoor cycling for 30 minutes after having 2 glasses of warm water.
2. If possible a 30 minutes of swimming is the gold standard exercise.
3. Cut TV to 30 minutes and even if she wants some snacks - they should be only popcorn and sweet corn and other boiled corn items which provide a lot of fiber.
4. Before breakfast and lunch and dinner she should have a cup of raw vegetables and fruits which will fill the stomach with zero calories -- by this she will stomach full but with less calories.
5. Extra curricular activities at school are a must.
6. Diet -
Morning - 1 glass XXXXXXX warm lemon, ginger & honey water
1dosa or 1 chappati or 2 idli or 1 medium bowl rice item
Lunch - 2 dosa or 2 chappati or 1 bowl rice item or 2 idli
Evening - 1 medium bowl seasonal fruits /popcorn or boiled sweet corn
Night - 1 dosa or 1 bowl rice with sambar +vegetable medium
If required sugarless milk 200 ml
7. She should be drinking around 2 litres of water per day surely.
