What Causes Extreme Chills And Uncontrollable Shaking?
Question: My 68 year old brother has come down with extreme chills, shaking all over. He doesnt seem to have a fever and was not previoully ill, however he suffered an episode of a sort of choking/reflux earlier today and spit up food he had previously eaten about 6 hours before. He did not continue vomiting afterwards, but did cough a bit. What do you think ?
Brief Answer:
Pyrogenic reaction

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query. Your brother seems to have a pyrogenic reaction. If the chills have subsided by now, you need not worry further. If the chills have not yet subsided, it would be adivisable to seek medical attention. Giving some antiallergic like benadryl or cetirizine should provide relief. If that does not help, Phenergan (promethazine) given intramuscularly should help in resolution of the problem.
Let me know if I could help further.
