What Causes Extreme Itching Around Testicles And Scrotum Area?

I am 29 yrs old and IT working professional. Since 2 weeks I have an extreme itching around my testicles and scrotum area. It has become increasingly difficult to avoid scratching in the itching area. Sometimes it is embarassing because the itching starts when being around people.
Can someone suggest a remedy?
Itching might due to ring worm infection and please confirm and get treated
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.
I have read through your query in detail.
It looks like you might have got ring worm infection in the groin causing itching in skin over testis and scrotum. Ring worm infection is caused by a fungus. A consultation with your doctor or dermatologist is suggested and after confirmation, you can apply any one of the ointments mentioned below.
There is ointment Candid B which contains antfungal and steroid combination clotrimazole 1 % w/w, beclometasone dipropionate 0.025 % w/w and is a good medication for ringworm infection.
The ointment Betnovate GM contains antifungal, antibacterial and steroid combination betamethasone valerate 0.12 % w/w, gentamycin sulphate 0.1 % w/w, miconazole nitrate 2 % w/w and works as good as Candid B ointment.
You can use Candid B or Betnovate GM ointments and both the creams contain steroid and antifungal combination. This may be applied of the skin twice a day. It will start healing in two weeks time and you can apply for about a month.
Apart from this you also must trim your pubic hairs, wear cotton inner clothes and wash your genitals with warm water twice a day and wipe it dry. Please avoid wearing wet clothes.
The ring worm is caused by a fungus. They thrive on moist surfaces, since the skin in the pubic region might be moist due to sweat formation, they infect that area and the infection spreads if not treated. Wearing wet clothes and not wiping your pubic region completely dry creates a favorable condition for the fungus to multiply.
If you have a fungal infection then the itching should decrease after 15 days to a month. If there is no improvement after following above suggestions then please consult your dermatologist again.
Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.
Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
