What Causes Eye Pain And Headache?

default
Posted on Wed, 15 Jun 2016
Question: I am taking Keflex for a spider bite on my eyelid; the swelling has gone down and I was feeling better-more energy; I returned to work and after a full day of work yesterday, my eye now hurts and I have had a continuous headache since yesterday evening. Am I stressing my eye by my computer work? What do you suggest? I did not have a Tetnus Booster Shot-is this necessary? Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Rule out infection

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for sending your query to us.
What we will be happy to rule out is to make sure there is no infection. That will be ensured if there is no new pain developing.
Otherwise it is good to take things up slowly. Avoid overstraining and take up strain gradually. Do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.

Thank you, Doctor Misra. I have approximately 2 more days of antibiotic left. If the headache pain behind my eyes or the soreness around my eyes persists, should I request an additional dose and/or another type of antibiotic?
I am rarely sick and the only medicine I take is ibuprophen or other over the counter pain reliever when necessary for sore muscles.
Thank you. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Persisting infection.

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for getting back to me.
This assessment is to be done by the time you finish these two days of antibiotics and I would prefer a change of antibiotics. Present antibiotic has done its job and remaining infection as it seems is not sensitive to this antibiotic. Normally NY this time body defences take over and patient keeps on improving. So this assessment will be done after two days.
I assume that anti inflammatory tablets are also being given. They should continue.
Any further query, please do get back to me.
