What Causes Face Redness, Chest Flushing And Warmness Post Intake Of Methylprednisolone?

Question: I began having an allergic reaction of some type on Tuesday morning. My palms turned red with lots of little vesicle blisters, etc. By Wednesday, I had linear red rash marks, little red dots, and colorless bumps on areas of arms, knees, back. Saw my dermatologist who said it was eczema and suggested poison ivy, etc., although I haven't been exposed, as far as I know. he gave me some clobetasol cream and I started a Methyloprednisone 4mg 6-day dose pack yesterday. Took 3 pills at a time four hours apart to start as it was late in the day. The rash has spread some more today, although my palms are definitely better and seem to be resolving some. However, I have noticed my face is red and my chest is flushed, hot, etc. Is this a side effect of the methyloprednisone? I had a rare skin condition, PRP, several years ago, that caused my whole body to turn red for many months. The presentation and onset of PRP was completely different in every way, but I am very sensitive to any general erythoderma after that experience, and so the facial and chest flushing are really freaking me out. I also have an elevated pulse and some jitteriness, which I know are attributable to the steroid. I would appreciate your opinion about whether this flushing is a common side effect. Again,I am on day 2 of a 6-day course. Thanks, XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
No, these are not side effects of methyl prednisone.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Redness of face, chest flushing and hotness etc are not immediate side effects of methyl prednisone tablet.
You have taken only two days of treatment and this kind of short course can not cause all these.
In my opinion, you should consult your dermatologist again and get done clinical examination for these new symptoms.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
