What Causes Facial Pain And Headache?
Question: Hi, I have been facing facial pain and head pain (some times) after eating and during normal times too for last 4 months.
I have visited the (dentist, ENT) finally I have visited the Neurologist. Now I have been recommended to take MRI. The below are the MRI Impression.
Impression:
1. Old lacunar infarcts noticed in left ganglio capsular region, corona radiata and both centrum semivale.
2. No evidence of fresh fresh infarct or hemorrhageor SOL noted.
3. There is evidence of abnormal vascular loop seen on right side compressing REZ of 5th nerve
4. left side 5th nerve apears normal
5. Nerve root exit zone cisternal and canacicular portions of 7th and 8th nerve complex appear normal (Both sides)
6. congenital hypoplasia A1 segment of left ACA noted
7. reduction of signals noticed in M1,M2,M3 and M4 segments of left MCA.
8. No evidence of aneurysm or AVM seen.
Possibility of neuro vascular conflict over right side 5th nerve with coexixting left MCA occlusive disease and chronic infarcts in MCA territory is more likely.
I am worried about all the terminology! could be please explain if anything serious?!

Your clinical symptoms are suggestive of a condition known as trigeminal neuralgia (TN), where episodic pain on the face occurs. This can be explained by compression of the trigeminal nerve by a blood vessel (mentioned in point 3). This condition can be treated by medications such as tegrital (carbamazepine).
Point 1 refers to decrease of blood flow in certain areas of left side of brain (lacunar infarcts). We need to find out the reasons for the same. Aspirin tablets may be needed for this.
Point 7 shows narrowing of blood vessels in brain on the left side, which are connected to point 1.
Other points are within normal limits.
