What Causes Facial Pain On One Side With Nasal Blockage And Ear Pain?

default
Posted on Fri, 11 Dec 2015
Question: Hi! I have problem with one sided facial pain. I have pain and fullness in nose, cheeks and side of nose, ear and side of face and in and around eye, also on forehead. It feels like something is in eye but it is not and sometimes feels painful but mildly. Same with ear and same with nose. Other side of nose has slight tenderness but no other symptoms. I am getting very anxcious that something bad is happening. Month ago I had tooth pulled and infection was in sinuses but I got antibiotics and really have not had any issues like that before. I may need to pull another upper tooth same side but again never had that issue before. The uncomfortable feeling has lasted 3 days and gets better by morning and worse after being outside or evenings. No discharge from nose, no fever, no dizziness or balance issue. Eyesight seems still same but like said I am getting extremely worried , specially because of eye symptoms. Nose feels blocked occasionaly and has a lot of tried snot but no discharge. Fullness and pressure behind nose bridge and inside. Can it be one sided sinus infection or ear infection or something with eye? what can I do, no health insurance

Hi..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your query the symptoms that you are experiencing are pointing towards Sinusitis that is inflammation in the sinus lining and is caused most commonly due to bacterial infection..
I would like to know from know that:

1.As per the question you have explained that you got an Upper tooth extraction done and had sinus infection, so I would like to know that these symptoms that are lasting for three days have ever happened before although milder or it is very first time ?

I had mild sinus problems all throughout the summer that were on and off but never as severe as now. When the dentist pulled my tooth he said that tooth abcess had got into sinuses and that's why I had sinus issues. He put me on antibiotics for abscess and like said.. I never had sinus issues after extraction until now. Follow up appointment he said that tooth is healing well.
I never got sinus xray as never had such a issues as now. I never been diagnosed for sinus infection only dentist mentioned that my tooth gave me sinus issues. Can sinus infection be one sided like this and cause eye problems. My eyes are also very dry but no redness. Nose keep itching and has fullness sensation almost all the time.
Thank you for your help

Brief Answer:
Most probably Sinusitis, need further investigation..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome Again..

Thanks for the quick response..

As per your response and the symptoms that you have explained and your dental history of tooth extraction causing sinus infection are all pointing towards Sinusitis and you should consult an Otolaryngologist or an ENT expert and get evaluated and along with a thorough clinical evaluation he can also advise you Nasal endoscopy or PNS view x Ray of sinuses to rule out for the exact cause of problem and treat accordingly..
As of now you can continue using Saline Nasal Spray, do steam inhalation, warm coompresses around nose and take ample of warm fluids..
You can also take decongestant nasal drops..
For Dry eyes artificial tear drops can be instilled in eye 2 to 3 times a day..
For pain you can continue taking Ibuprofen..

Any further questions are welcome..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
