What Causes Fainting After Having Clonazepam Along With Beers?
Question: 12 hours after taking 2 clonazepam tablets I drank 3 beers and then fainted. I was not injured. Is this what one would usuallly expect to happen?
Brief Answer:
This is expected to happen.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM. I understand your concerns.
Actually, clonazepam(and other benzodiazepines like lorazepam, alprazolam etc) have similar effects on brain like alcohol. Both can cause sedation.
You took two tablets of clonazepam and alcohol afterwards. Then you fainted. This was most likely due to excessive sedation and hypotension caused by additive effects of alcohol and clonazepam.
Please be careful in future with the two.
Hope this answers your query.
Thanks.
