What Causes False Positive Result For Cocaine On Drug Test?
Question: on a recent drug test it showed posative for cocaine and i have never touched the stuff what would do this

Dear I am very sorry for that. I would like to inform you that it is not uncommon to be tested positive for certain drugs such as cocain without taking them .
You have not mentioned whether it was tested in blood or urine .
There are so many commercially available kits that can be used to detect it but the problem with these kits is there high false positive results that is they are highly sensitive .
There are so many reasons for false positive cocain test such as
1.viral infections
2.many antibiotics specially of penicillin group such as ampicillin .
3 . chronic kidney disease
4.chronic liver disorder
6 . diabetes
7.certain drinks etc.
So there is no need to worry. You know you have never taken cocain .
Get it checked again and if you have any of above mentioned cause discuss about them.
Blood test will give better idea and level.
repeat test with different kit can also be done .

it was a urine test by lab corp for coast gaurd the lab told me nothing would show for cocaine but cocaine i have been takeing antibiotics and oarlgel for infected tooth three or for days before test could this maybe reason for it
