Question: I have been taking cipralex 10mg one pill a day for the past 4 years because previously I have diagnosed by BPD. Recently I consulted a consultant. Putted me through . Depression test and ADD test. I have been diagnosed that I have Borderline ADD and no more signs of BPD or depression. He subscribed Concerta one pill a day along with my cipralex. The questions is there is any side effect for the drug combination. Is concerta can damage the brain because of use. Why I feel more active, I feel I have engines in my brain. Is having fast heart rate normal...

Brief Answer:
No it does not damage brain

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Health care magic.

Concerta is a medication classified under stimulant category and that could be reason for feelin active after the prescription of Concerta.

Regarding your question about brain damage I do not think concerta will csuse more harm to you than benefits. This is because it is well indicated for ADD. If the stimultion is too high to handle, in my view dose could be lowered.

Regarding combination I do not think there should be use of antidepresssnt alone, without mood stabilizer, as it may cause switching.

I hope this answers you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.

Acknowledgement- I assume by BPD you mean bipolar disorder.

Thank you for your reply. Can you please clarify more for me about the medicines combination. Did u mean that using these two drugs together my cause switching.

Also, regarding BPD, is it possible that I have been cured of this illness.

Brief Answer:
BPD is relapsing remitting disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for reverting back to me.

There is no problem with concurrent use of Cipralex and Concerta but the problem lies due to absence of mood stabiliser.

I mean to say that if antidepressant, Cipralex, is used alone the depression may switch to mania by switching.

To avoid switching it is important to stop antidepressant as soon as possible once there is no more depression or use along with mood stabiliser.

Most often bipolar disorder can be treated symptomatic only and the disorder remains there to relapse anytime.

I hope I am able to answer you clearly.
