What Causes Fast Heart Rate After Having Exercise?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: Is my heart rate a sign of a heart problem? I just got back into exercise after taking a break for three weeks to rest. I had a diagnosis for costochondritis three weeks ago and my doctor recommend I limit my exercise to things that are easy on my rib cage. So, tonight for the second time since the doctor's visit I rode the bike for 25 minutes. I measured my heart rate the whole time and it was around 140 - 160 mostly about 155. Immediately after working out it dropped to about 135 and then took about fifteen minutes before it fell back to 90bpm. About a week ago my resting heart rate was 60bpm consistently. Now, some days it stays around 75 - 80 and then other days it's back to 60 bpm. I have high anxiety and have been having some panic attacks lately. I am getting a lot better at dealing with the panic attacks and don't have them as often. However, I am really concerned about my heart rate. I was working out 6 days a week and in really good shape until I was diagnosed with costochondritis. I have a lot of other symptoms such as a spacey light headed feeling, and a strange vibrating when I'm going to sleep.

At night, for a few days now, I have woken up with a moderately fast heart rate and it takes me a few minutes to calm down. It feels like it's around 100 bpm for about 4 minutes before it calms down.
Also sometimes I get a muscular jolt throughout my whole body when I wake up then my heart will race for a few seconds and come back to a normal rate.

Brief Answer:
Anxiety attack.
Detailed Answer:
Rapid heart rate after a jolt is quite typical of an anxiety attack.Since this is happening even in sleep this needs to be treated with anxiolytic. It indicates you have stress built in you.So anxiolytics are indicated.
Try moderate excercises like breathening excercises , yoga and meditation. In long terms this can prove helpful.
Hope this helps.Regards.
