What Causes Fatigue Along With Pain In-between The Shoulder Blades?
Question: I am extremely tired and I ache between my shoulder blades. I am an 83 year old man.
Brief Answer:
Muscle strain
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
This is most probably due to muscle stain.
Muscle strain is mostly resulting from the coughing that has preceded the emerge of pain.
So, I would recommend that you take an anti-inflammatory analgesic medication such as Ibuprofen every eight hours for three days.
Also you can apply an analgesic ointment as Voltaren gel three times daily.
However, if the pain increases when you take a deep breath then I would recommend that you get an X-ray chest to exclude lung disorders such as pneumonia.
Hope I have answered your query.

Ok for the back pain. What about the fatigue that I'm experiencing when this back pain happens?
Brief Answer:
A number of causes.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The tiredness could be due to a number of reasons including the need to adjust the thyroid medications, cardiac insufficiency or pneumonia. This is why I would recommend that you take the anti-inflammatory medication for three days.
If no improvement occurs then you should seek medical care to exclude other causes of pain between the shoulder blades such as angina (that can be excluded with an ECG and an echocardiogram) or lung disorders (which be excluded with an X-ray chest) if both are excluded then you should get an ultrasound on your neck to exclude disc prolapse and thyroid nodules.
Hope I have answered your query.
