What Causes Fatigue And Rashes On Neck Post Zpack Treatment?

default
Posted on Fri, 20 May 2016
Question: I was diagnosed with strep throat about one month ago. At first they gave me penacillian but I was allergic so they gave me a Zpack. My throat eventually got better, but I remain fatigued and I get these little reoccurring rashes that pop up on my neck and chest.

Brief Answer:
Probably allergic; take antihistamines

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.
This is Dr. Swarnava Dattagupta answering your query.

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
Fatigue and weakness is not uncommon after a prolonged throat infection. Dont worry about that. Take healthy meals at regular intervals with lots of water and oral fluid. Take a multivitamin-multiminerals combination with antioxidants and you will feel better gradually.
The rash seems allergic, so a course of antihistamines like levocetrizine or fexofenadine is suggested. Only if it does not get better in few days, further evaluation can be done.
You should also stop medications apart from your regular medications if any.

You can discuss the above with your treating or family doctor.

Hope this was useful.

Regards.
