What Causes Fatigue In An Elderly Person Diagnosed With Systemic Lupus?
Question: I am 62 y.o. female with history systemic lupus for +/- 30 years. Symptoms range from fatigue to pericarditis to internuclear ophthalmoplegia to drop attacks to joint pain. I take numerous meds from 81 mg aspirin, prednisone 10 mg, Placquenil 20 mg, Imuran 100 mg, thyroid med, atorvastatin 40 mg, etc. I spent a total of nearly 8 months in hospital in 2014 due to 7 hospital-acquired infections, including MRSA, after routine hernia surgery. I have taken sulfamethoxazole -TMP DS 800-150 mg bid ever since. During the last four hours, I have been having warmth and pain (4/10) in the right neck vein just behind my ear. I don't really want to check in with my doc yet -- for fear it will start a new cascade of treatments. But I don't want to be found dead on the floor in a week either. Could it be something that tincture of time will cure? I really don't want to go in unless it could be serious. Any tips?
Brief Answer:
Use Tylenol and let's re-evaluate later!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for contacting us.
This is certainly a minor thing unless it persists. I will suggest that you take tylenol to control the pain and only seek further care if it persists. I really don't see this going further but time and its response to tylenol would be the best ways to tell.
Also, update me in 24hours. This way, I will keep an eye on it and offer more targeted guidance and helpful tips.
I wish you well.
