What Causes Feeling Of Lump With Mucus Discharge In Rectum?

Question: Hi there I have alot of pressure around my rectum it makes me feel as though I need to go to the bathroom even when my bowels are empty I'm not constipated and have regular bowel movements, the pressure has been happening every day for two weeks I'm so uncomfortable I also decided to feel and it feels as though I have a large lump inside it's firm there is also mucus/discharge, I'm only 23 and iv had a child I'm going to get it checked but I'm panicking!! Any help would be lovelyXXXX

Hi.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history which is self explanatory.

Since you have felt a lump inside there is definitely a chance of a lump being there and since you are not accustomed to feeling this regularly it may be difficult for you to differentiate between the following things:

- This can be an impacted fecolith.
- Can be a polyp.
- At your age of 23 cancer is not at all expected so please do not worry.
- There can be a proctitis with edema.

I would advise you the following:
Get an opinion of a surgeon and have preliminary per-rectal and proctoscopy examination to be followed by colonoscopy after preparation.
Test of stool and blood

Please do not panic as anyway you are going for a check up and I am sure this is a small and solvable problem.
