Question: Sometimes when I am sitting down I feel a sudden feeling of lunging forward. Of course I feel a little panicked when this happens. Sometimes I just feel like I need to have a bowel movement for it to go away. I do take medication for GERD and I am borderline anemic. I feel off balance a lot when sitting in a chair and not a booth at restaurants especially when the lighting is bad. It seems to be worse when I'm tired. This is nothing that has just started I have dealt with this for approximately 30 yrs.

Dear Madam,
Thank you for posting your query on HCM.
Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that we can discuss the possibilities but it will be difficult to give you a diagnosis based on your complaints . First thing is to get your BP checked as some times low BP can also lead to this kind of feeling . In that case your drug dose needs to be adjusted .
Other thing is to get Vitamin B12 levels get tested , its deficiency can also lead to imbalance . Other thing is you need to be examined for presence of any cerebellar signs that are coming and needs investigation . That will require a neurological examination .
Last Fibromayalgia can also give rise to such symptoms very fairly and we see a lot of patients complaining regarding this. You can discuss these things with your treating doctor for further advise as he remains the best judge of your situation .
Take care.
