What Causes Feeling Pressure At Upper Right Side Of Abdomen?

default
Posted on Thu, 19 Jun 2014
Question: Hi, I'm a 32 year old male (6'3", 265 lbs) and lately I've been experiencing what I wouldn't describe as "pain" necessarily, but more of a felling of pressure primarily in the upper right side of my abdomen. It doesn't really hurt and doesn't keep me from going throughout my day normally. Only reason I'm concerned is that about 2-3 years ago, my GP saw elevated liver enzymes and ordered an ultrasound. Ultrasound showed my liver was probably on the fatty side of normal, but none the less normal. As it turns out, the enzymes were probably elevated because I had been overexerting myself trying to get back into shape. All blood/urine work since then has been normal (had blood/urine analysis about 2.5 months ago, it was also normal.). I usually have about 0-2 drinks in the evening after work, but do drink more on the weekends/holidays. Other than that, I'm not feeling any nausea, don't look jaundiced, and haven't lost any weight. I heard "pale" stool can be in indication of liver problems, but I can't say for certain if mine is pale or not. It's not grey or white or anything, probably a shade or 2 darker than peanut butter and usually solid. My personal life is not exactly stress free at the moment, so this could be just an inflamed imagination.

Brief Answer:
Abdominal Pain

Detailed Answer:
Hello.Delighted to be able to help.
A possible diagnosis (related to intake of alcohol and fatty foods) is liver-gallbladder problem. To rule out these pathologies, blood tests for measurement of liver enzymes (ALT, AST) and abdomen ultrasound is recommended.
If liver-gallbladder pathology is ruled out, other possible diagnosis is bloat-gas.
In people with stress and eating quickly, formation of gas in the abdomen that causes pain is common.
Go to your doctor for the realization of the mentioned additional tests.
For now,I recommend you avoid intake of alcohol and fatty foods, eat slowly and avoid gas drinks and gas aliments(cauliflower, artichokes, peas ...).
I Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be happy to help.If you do not have any clarifications, please don’t forget to evaluate my answer.I wish you good health.
