What Causes Feeling Weird Solar Plexus Inspite Of Having PVCs?

Posted on Tue, 6 May 2014
Question: Hello, I am 63 years old, overweight at 340 lbs and 6 ft tall. Stopped smoking 3 years ago. Am dieting and restricting alcohol intake to "social" status. Was relatively heavy drinker for years. Have had heart checked often over last few years. Only diagnosis was PVCs (premature Ventricular Contractions). That causes me to worry about my heart. I always felt an "irregular pulse" coming thru my solar plexus and could actually watch the area twitch. I have been on Bisoprolol 5mg now for 2 years. My normal blood pressure is in the 140-145 over 80-95 range. I have continually inquired with the GP that I am worried about an abdominal aneurysm. Just today I felt that "pulse" at my solar plexus and felt weird. This was about 45 minutes after drinking a 4 oz glass of wine and returning from a short shopping trip. I drank a few mouthfuls of bottled water and sat down...it seems to go away after that. I checked by BP and it was 115 over 75..low for me ..waited 10 minutes ..BP 125 over 88. Solar plexus was tender for about 1/2 hour and had a "full feeling" ..then urge for bowel movement.. Am I crazy thinking these are Abdominal Aneurysm symptoms ? I'm a very scared continually when these "feelings" arise.

Brief Answer: You are too worried about this Detailed Answer: Hi and thanks for this query. I am so sorry to hear about these PVC and the troubling thoughts you have had about abdominal aneurysm. PVC doesn't need treatment. If it is not symptomatic(interfering with normal life), no body goes treating it. I am certain bisoprolol was not give for PVC unless there is an information piece relating to the symptoms associated with PVC that am not getting or you failed to report. I know you must haver read extensively on the possible consequences of tobacco. I am certain you have come across abdominal aneurysm an tobacco smoking and that it is more common around your age group. This is what scares you and probably not any real existing aneurysm. If I were your treating physician, I would have simply done an abdominal ultrasound to exclude this and reassure you. This would very much help with easing your fears. In all, talk to your doctor and get a screening ultrasound so that you can e convinced that you have no problem because you are living in a world of total fear. You are very scared about this. I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thank you for using our services and feel free to request for clarifications and ore information. Dr. Ditah, MD.
