What Causes Fever After Taking Antibiotics?
Question: I am on antibiotic for prostate infection for 1 month.
(I am Factor V Leiden, survived 4 clots and multiple PE...a medical mutant)
I am assuming an antibiotic is causing the fever/break/fever....is that a correct assumotion?
We started with CIPRO, but had a very bad reaction. Am continuing antibiotic SULFA-TMP.
Last night I fevered to 103.5+. Fever broke...Fever returns...breaks again. This has been continuous for past 7 days.

Brief Answer:
You need to be properly investigated.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
A month of multiple antibiotics ongoing and yet having fevers seems quite unusual. The scenario calls for further investigation. You need to be tested for typhoid by getting a Widal test done. I would also need a relatively recent blood count and C-Reactive protein (CRP) level to be able to comment properly. It might be a good idea to get a blood culture and sensitivity test done. Based on the findings further treatment can ensue.
I would insist you to take paracetamol or acetaminophen to bring down the temperature. Also use tepid sponging.
Take the present condition seriously.
