What Causes Fever, Chills, Intermittent Pain In The Esophagus And Stomach Area?

default
Posted on Tue, 8 Nov 2016
Question: I have 3 episodes of severe pain in the esophagus/stomach area with bloating, gases, fever, chills. The last symptoms were also a result of a viral infection a week ago. I had a previous spontaneous bleeding (upper region) and no physical cause was detected as a reason. This happened two weeks bed bug bites in DC. A Brazilian physician explained that there are bed bugs from Southeast Asia who are vectors for hemorrhagic fever. At that time, I did not have these pains that I now have. The capsule endoscopy revealed nothing. Subsequent endoscopy/colonoscopy revealed a polyp which was removed (precancerous)

Brief Answer:
Possible bacterial infection of upper aero digestve tract

Detailed Answer:
Hello Mam

I can certainly understand your concern.

I have worked through your question in detail.

You possibly seem to have acute gastroesophagitis secondary to vital infection earlier.

It's important to start a course of antibiotics and proton pump inhibitors for a course of 14 days.

I advise you to take oral pills of clarithromycin,Metronidazole and Pantoprazole for 14 days.

Hemorrhagic fever is quite unlikely, as its effects will be more diffuse, severe and systemic.

As capsule endoscopy is normal , small bowel disorder can be reasonably ruled out.

Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these pills to you.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
