Question : My son has a fever (as high as 102.2), nausea & vomiting, and a weird bruise-like purplish rash on his face and neck. Should I be worried?

Brief Answer: Fever Detailed Answer: Hello. Thank you for your question. I am sorry your son is not well. The fever alone does not have me concerned. The nausea and vomiting could be attributed to a viral illness. All of these are symptoms that typically resolve on their own. Fever control and maintenance of hydration are usually all that is necessary. I am a little curious about the bruising that you describe. I recommend that is more bruises appear, war the existing bruising spreads, that you go with your son to emergency room immediately. Otherwise, if the fever and nausea and vomiting persist for more than 2 days war if you are concerned about his hydration status, I recommend consulting with your doctor.
