What Causes Fibromyalgia?
Question: Hello. I have been reading that at least a factor which leads to Fibromyalgia (or maybe results from Fibromyalgia) is the restriction of blood flow to the smaller blood vessels at the affected area.
If this IS the case, it seems that the application of heat to that area would increase the blood flow (vasodilation) to that area and contribute to the healing process and/OR give relief to the pain (at least to some degree).
Am I correct in that assumption or incorrect?
Thank you, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
this does not seem to be the case...
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
the cause of fibromyalgia is unknown. Other assumptions are considered more likely like increased sensitivity of the patient's nerves. Increasing the blood flow by inducing vasodilation is not considered a treatment option for fibromyalgia. So this is an incorrect assumption with current knowledge.
Kind Regards!
