What Causes Fizzing Sound In Neck?
Question: My daughter, age 29, is somewhat concerned that she occasionally can hear a sound like moving liquid that sounds like it's in her neck. She has said that it sounds like a rainstick. She has no history of neurological or orthopedic, no cervical neck damage. I have read of other people's experiences with this online, some who say they have had this experience for many years. Do we need to be concerned? And if so, what medical help should we pursue? Neurologist? Thank you very much for your help.
Brief Answer:
Evaluation by the primary care Doctor is sufficient.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
It is not well understood the origin of your daughter's concerns, probably there are bubbles into the synovial liquid that may cause that sensation.
Another possible explanation may be related to deep neck muscles crepitus.
However, since there are no other symptoms such pain or sensory changes, you and your daughter shouldn't worry much more than necessary.
An evaluation by your daughter's primary care Doctor, is sufficient to clarify the condition.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
