What Causes Flashes In Vision And Floaters In Eyes?
I understand that the flashes and the floaters are because of the vitreous hemorrhage, and that they should resolve after the hemorrhage is resolved. I went for a follow up, and they told me that the vitreous hemorrhage had already resolved, yet I am still seeing flashes and still got these floaters. How long will it take until these resolve too?
The other thing is that when I turn off the light in the room, the healthy eye adjusts to the low light that comes through the window at night right away, the other eye which suffered the trauma does not adjust right away, and it takes it about a minute or two to start seeing on the same level as the healthy eye. What can I do to improve it? I also see like a shadow in the left and upper area of the peripheral vision if I am looking straight up, it is most noticeable at night and barely noticeable at light time, why does it happen, and will this heal up?
It will take 1-3 months to resolve.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Healthcare Magic
Thank you for the follow up question.
I reviewed your history and the previous question.
It is nice to hear that your vitreous hemorrhage is resolved. The presence of flashes and floaters is because of presence of residual hemorrhage spots and opacities. This will take time to resolve. This may take up to 1-3 months.
Since vitreous hemorrhage has resolved now, you need to undergo eye examination to look for retinal tears or vitreous detachment as now the view will be clear and it is easy to make it out. If your ophthalmologist has done this test this time and if nothing was found out then no need to worry.
You will be fine and as I mentioned the floaters and flashes will resolve and they take some time.
Since you have already been treated with steroids, no treatment is generally required now.
The second problem you have mentioned of eye not adjusting to light is because of traumatic iritis and it will resolve once the inflammation resolves completely you will be fine.
Hence I advice you to
Follow up for another 1-2 months as advised.
If the symptoms persist, dilated eye examination to look for retinal tears, vitreous detachment, vitreous opacities, traumatic mydriasis, traumatic cataract.... is required.
Hope the information is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.
Thank you
