Posted on Mon, 15 Dec 2014
Question: I am having a problem within my right eye. I see a slight flashing that pulses on and off. It is shaped like a crescent and appears on the right side. It appears like a reflection that flashes on briefly. I also see a fuzzy spot that seems to be something on the surface of my eye. It moves in coordination with the direction that I look, but a fraction of a second after I change direction of my gaze.

Brief Answer:
It requires evaluation by indirect ophthalmoscopy.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.
I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that you are having flashes of light and floaters in your right eye.
The common causes for this in your age group are vitreous degenerations and vitreous detachment.
Since these can be associated with retinal thinning or retinal tears, this requires examination by a ophthalmologist by indirect ophthalmoscopy to look for these conditions.

If the associated retinal conditions are not present then no need to worry as vitreous degenerations and vitreous detachment are benign and does not require treatment and will resolve in severity slowly.

If the retinal conditions like retinal thinning or retinal tears are present they need to be treated by prophylactic laser to prevent complications like retinal detachment.

Hence I advice you to consult your ophthalmologist for examination and treatment accordingly.

Do write back to me with the examination reports.

Hope the information is helpful to you.

Thank you
With regards
