Brief Answer:
Ice will really not help

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question,
This can happen when there is irritation in the knee joint or inflammation in the muscles or tendons around the knee.
Try using an elastic wrap on the knee when you are up and moving around and prop the knee up (above the level of the heart) for 15 minutes 2-3 times during the day.
If this situation persists for longer than 2-3 months then see your doctor for some testing to determine the cause of the fluid build up.
Regards,
Dr. Robinson
