What Causes For Sore Lower Back, Sharp Abdominal Pain And Fever After Fall?

default
Posted on Wed, 31 Dec 2014
Question: I had a bad fall last week, fell hard on my back .
After a couple of days of just feeling sore in lower back , I have developed very sharp abdominal pains and 102 fever.
For the time being drinking a lot of fluids and bed rest.
Since I have polycythemia Vera I am always cautious about internal bleeding.
Should I be more concerned and do more .
Thank you

Brief Answer:
Blood culture and USG of whole abdomen

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I think you should not worry.

I would advise you to do a blood culture test.If any growth is found in culture then taking sensitive antibiotics with doctors advise will reduce your fever.

For the time being i would advise you to take paracetamol tablets twice daily for fever, sore lower back and abdominal pain.

I will also advise you to do an ultrasonography of whole abdomen to rule out any internal bleeding since you have polycythemia vera .
